Cake and Friends and FUN FUN FUN!!!

We had Jadyn's birthday party at Kidz Wurld in North Attleboro. Everyone had a great time and Daddy will get over the credit card bill by next year's party I hope =) Enjoy the pictures!!

Potato Candy

Opportunities to actually cook with Jesse are very rare, so I am always excited when I find a recipe that he can participate in. I found this recipe for Potato Candy and decided to try it with him. We had a lot of fun making the candy, unfortunately it didn't taste that good =(

RECIPE

1 medium sized white potato, cooked until soft and mashed

Confectioners Sugar

That's it 2 ingredients, mash the potato and then start added sugar, it will get very wet and mushy, keep mixing and adding sugar until it forms a dough that you can roll out easily. This takes A LOT of sugar. I used 3 pounds all together. Roll out dough on waxed paper until very thin and let sit for about 2hrs. Cut into little squares and store in a bowl in a powdered sugar bath to keep it dry.

You can add chocolate chips or any flavor extract to this recipe and I'm sure that will make it tastier, Jesse cannot have those so I just made it plain, we were not impressed with the taste, but maybe you will be! Let me know if you try it

Drawing with Children Art Class

Melissa and I are both using the Drawing with Children book in our curriculum this year so we decided it would be fun for our kids to do it together. This was our first lesson. Miss Melissa doing relaxation excersizes with them, Jadyn was peeking =)

The Water Cycle and the Greek Alphabet

Jesse is learning all about water this week and the letter Ww. His words to remember are Jesus gives my spirit living water to drink. On this day we learned all about the water cycle. We made our very own cloud in a pan by boiling water and covering it with cardboard to demonstrate condensation and then when our little cloud was heavy with water it starting raining! In the house! It was very cool.

Jadyn did a LOT of addition this week with her little kitty counters, they had no nail polish contest to judge this week luckily and she is learning the Greek alphabet, dabbling a bit with the Hebrew alphabet and studying proverbs

Eggs not fertile?

I am thinking that Bindi's journey into motherhood is not going to happen with this clutch. Below is a picture of what a fertile egg is supposed to look like and Bindi's eggs all look clear =(. So I am keeping them for a few more weeks just to make sure and then we will clean out the nestbox and the cage and let her recover and maybe try again in about 6 or 7 months. She is still protecting those eggs though! She's going to be a great mama, when she gets the chance.

Octupus and Rivers

Jesse learned all about the Octopus and the Letter Oo His words to remember were "even the Octopus praises the Lord" so he made his octopus look like he was praying! LOL Jadyn was studying Rivers and how they get polluted these were her spelling words. Downstream, Meanders, Mudflats, Upstream, Erosion, Tributary and source.

Jadyn decided to get her nails painted for her upcoming birthday, she couldn't decide which color she wanted so she decided to let the kitty counters be the judges and decide
