Norway

We are having such a great time learning about different cultures and countries and their customs with My Father's World. This past 2 weeks we studied Norway. What a beautiful country, we would love to visit there someday.

We made a paper quilt to hang on the wall with symbols of Norway

We tried our hand at rosemaling, the orange flower is Jadyn's, very creative.

then we made felt lap squares representing the laps sweaters as they work in the white blinding snow

Finished

Jesse had to put a platypus on his, because right now it's all about platypuses? platypi? platypeese? gotta look that one up.

John 3:16 in norwegian. My kids are not fond of coloring can you tell.

Working on their map facts sheet

I especially love their pictures showing the norwegian children hiding their gold in snowmen and sledding past the German Soldiers, notice the faces on Jesse's soldiers! So cute.

Brazil

I misplace my camera for a few weeks and the plague hit the house so we were out of commission for what seemed like forever, but we did manage to keep up with the homeschooling as much as we could. On this particular week we studied Brazil

We were all sick so there was a LOT of reading going on, and light copywork and math in our jammies, oh wait, we are always in our jammies LOL

Jesse was feeling especially crappy and didn't want to get off the couch, so we call this couch school, whatever works.

We even managed to make a missionary fellowship model plane.

Jadyn is 9?!

How did that happen so quickly? Seems like just yesterday they put that sweet, pink, tiny bundle in my arms, so snugly and warm and as we watched the snow falling outside our hospital room window my husband and I could not stop staring at her, totally in awe at the gift God had blessed us with. And now she's 9! Where does the time go? Jadyn wanted a Hawaiian birthday so I made her a luau cake complete with erupting volcano.

..and a happy birthday sign

...and you can't have a luau without a pig! This one is especially cute.

My big beautiful 9 yr old! Happy Birthday Princess! Thanks for the most fun 9yrs of my life!

Christmas and New Year update

Happy New Year everyone!! We have been SO SO busy I haven't had a minute to update. Christmas was wonderful, as I hope everyone's was. Jesse had an ICU hospital stay 2 days after Christmas for an experimental procedure, so we have been busy with that. But that went better than expected so we are grateful for that.

Trying to get back into the routine of things. We are studying South America and will continue with that this week. The kids are so excited! (not) so I think getting back into things is going to be a process, hopefully not a painful one.

Everyone have a great week!!
