Library Day
On this day we took a trip to the library and the kids spent some time in their favorite reading spot there. This is a great library and we really love it there.
LADYBUGS
One day during the week a little ladybug decided to join us for our reading lesson. Jadyn LOVES ladybugs so she wanted me to take a picture of her and put her on the blog so here she is!
Apples and Things that Grow
This past week Jesse learned about apples and other fruits and Jadyn learned about how things grow, we did many science projects this week and studied plants and beans and read lots of books. Here is Jadyn showing her drawing of the progression of how a plant grows, from seed to sprout to plant.
We gathered some brightly colored flowers, put them in a baggie with a few drops of water and squished them around for awhile and made paint! Then we painted coffee filters with the paint, this was fun and the kids were amazed.
We also sprouted some beans, Jadyn thought it amazing when we split the bean open and saw the tiny bean plant inside, she loved looking at them each day to see what was happening.
We are also working on sprouting a sweet potato
Jesse is doing very well learning his vowels, he knows all their sounds and names and has a cute little song to sing about them...
The topic this week was Apples and Jesse's words to remember this week were "If I stay in Jesus, I will have much fruit" so we made a poster with all different fruits on it
We also made a tree with apples and had a lesson about the fruits of the spirit and what that meant.

Nature Walk
Since it was such a beautiful day and we don't get snow days, we decided to take a sunshine day and go to the park. We fed the goats carrots...
...and apples
and had fun on the HUGE slide
ready made spaceship for a couple of space explorers.

Our day at the park quickly turned into a nature walk, which worked out perfectly since Jadyn had been studying things that grow close to the ground and Jesse was studying leaves. We found some interesting mushrooms, all kinds of leaves that very conveniently were all labeled, a homeschool mom's dream for sure, and some beautiful flowers. Here are some pictures of what we saw.

Things that live close to the ground
This particular week in Science class Jadyn was studying things that live close to the ground. Jadyn named several things that live close to the ground, ants, earthworms, mushrooms to name just a few. We soaked a piece of bread with honey.....
...and brought it outside to see what kinds of creatures we could cath that lived close to the ground. The next morning all that was left was an empty plate! I was expecting to catch some ants or some bugs of some sort, but I guess that silly 'ol bear winnie the pooh was in our yard that day and ate that bread all up....Oh Bother!

Ss Sun
Jesse was studying the Sun this week and the letter Ss. We will check on these grapes every day and chart them as they turn into raisins, they are starting to get a little wrinkly here. Jesse also made a sundial this week.
