Things that live close to the ground

This particular week in Science class Jadyn was studying things that live close to the ground. Jadyn named several things that live close to the ground, ants, earthworms, mushrooms to name just a few. We soaked a piece of bread with honey..... ...and brought it outside to see what kinds of creatures we could cath that lived close to the ground. The next morning all that was left was an empty plate! I was expecting to catch some ants or some bugs of some sort, but I guess that silly 'ol bear winnie the pooh was in our yard that day and ate that bread all up....Oh Bother!

Ss Sun

Jesse was studying the Sun this week and the letter Ss. We will check on these grapes every day and chart them as they turn into raisins, they are starting to get a little wrinkly here. Jesse also made a sundial this week.

Our very first art class..

Jadyn and Jesse are taking an art class at the Greenville Public Libary, here they are their very first day waiting patiently for class to begin. They studied Georgia O'Keefe and then each got to draw a picture of her garden, Jadyn put lots of bees in hers
Jesse took the minimalists approach and left some of his flowers uncolored, He wanted to spark your imagination!

Not back to school tye dye party!

The Woody Louden Rec Center in Foster RI was where our not back to school tye dye party was held. It was a very rainy day, but we still had a blast! This is sure to be a yearly event for us, we had such a great time. They had an awesome little playground to play in and we did manage to get some playground time in before the downpour came.
We then headed inside to tie up our items to be tye dyed

While all our items were soaking in the soda ash getting ready for the dye, we ate lunch.

As we ate lunch it started to rain quite hard, but we went outside anyway to tie dye our shirts, I think the rain added to the fun and I'm sure the kids that were there that day would agree...here they are in the rain tye dying their shirts.

HMMM I think Jadyn got just as much dye on herself as she did on her shirt lol

When we were done with our shirts we ventured back inside to play some games and dry off

Then we had a quick snack before heading home

We were very happy with the finished results!! We can't wait until next year!

Art Class

This is from the kids 2nd art class. This day they studied about Vincent Van Gogh and how he always signed his paintings so that his signature was somewhat hidden, they made vases filled with flowers and signed their names in a hidden spot on the vases.

On the fourth day God created.....

The Sun, the moon and the stars, here is Jesse with his 4th day of creation mobile that he made. Jesse was studying the Sun and the Moon and how the moon having no light of it's own, reflects light from the sun.

Summer Park Days

As our summer draws to a close we have been trying to spend as much time outside as possible. On this particular day we found a little inchworm friend to share our day with.

What we have been up to.

Labor Day at Beavertail with our Calvary Family. It was a perfect day for a picnic at parking lot 2. This is my favorite picture of Jim! Watch out Jadyn, Gabriel's sneaking up on you!

Settling down, helping clean up and getting ready to go home after a great night, with great friends.

I'm so thankful for my church family as well as my own family!
